I also got some pimenta-de-bode seeds.  I don't know what is the exact variety, since there are many chiles called that in Brazil.  Normally they're associated with scented chiles (pimenta-de-cheiro).

I'll sow them soon and grow them under fluorescent lights.  I'll keep this thread updated with the results.

I have a bunch to spare, so PM me if you'd like to trade (and again, those who "deserve" it, may get some for free ;-))

Hi!

Have any of them germinated yet? I got one of each growing, out of 4 planted of each. It took a week for them to break the surface. BTW,do you have any pics or something,of how they should turn out when mature?

Hi,

I haven't planted any of these seeds myself yet.  1 seed germintating out of 4 sounds like a pretty low germination rate :-(

I have posted one small and not-so-clear picture of pimenta-de-bico in another thread.  You can see more or less how they look there.  I don't have any pictures of the pimenta-de-bode, but there are many different kinds of pimenta-de-bode, mostly with different colours, but in general they produce small round fruits that are about 1cm in diameter.

I think I saw some pictures in Fatalii's pages, but I don't remember for sure.

I like to think that anything above 0% is good. As long as the plant doesn't die before fruiting even one plant can provide you with many fresh seeds that have a germination rate nearing 100%.

I like optimist people :-)
I'm one myself ;-)

I have quite some work to do now, to recover my chiles from some stress they suffered during my 2½ weeks holiday... They suffered with aphids, dropped lots of flowers and some fruites... Not so good, but at least my Ají Amarillo is still flowering and fruiting heavily and my paper lantern has lots of ripe fruits to be harvested :-D
