sfars I know,
when a Plant is dug out of its place,
the roots get reduced and can no longer
supply / support / maintain
all of the green part aboveground,
& that's why you cut some off the top, too;
so, wouldn't it make sense to
do the same thing
in the other-way-round case?
there's not enough green stuff,
not enough light collected to
supply / support (help my English)
all those roots.....
I'd go all the way & cut both ends.
