I'm going to be doing a full on roots over rock bonchi using a life sized replica resin skull, and the hottest pepper known to man, the Carolina Reaper.
I've decided to document everything that goes into it from start to finish using a blog, in case anyone wants to read along.

(Note: I'm in the Northern hemisphere, so its currently the beginning of winter. Will be a while before it gets to having an actual plant being grown, but I'm working on things like concepts and containers now.)
It's very cool! :)
Man, with all the effort going into just the container for this thing, I should see if there are any contests I could enter it in around here. Even if the bonchi fails miserably, I'm still going to have a kick-ass container!
Whew, just got the grow box I've been building for the peppers about 80% finished!
Now I can get a serious head start on growing my project pepper!
Grow box is finished, and I even added a small hydroponic kit to my seed starting.
First warm day of spring, everybody is going outside for a field trip!

Hmmm... one of the NuMex Halloween peppers has come out *VERY* different from it's sisters.

I'm also growing my first dragonfruit cactus. Let's see how it turns out! :D

Good luck for your project, I'll follow your blog. :)
Tip for your dragonfruit, give it something to climb if you want it to make fruit.
They won't fruit until the overall mass of the plant is about 10lbs/5kg, so you'll need a large plant. Bigger the plant gets, the more it needs to climb, like a grape vine.
Easiest way to get it to do that is to buy a pole of some kind, and wrap it nice and thick with burlap.
Thanks for the tip. :) I'll be planting the cactus in a large pot so it can grow some mass. And I'll figure out a clever way to give it a climbing support. ::)
I had a nice big dragonfruit for a few years that I started from a cutting, but it freezes here during the winter so had to keep bringing it inside. Got to the point where it was just too damned big and heavy to keep moving, so I let it freeze and kept the smaller one I had started from seed.
Oh, and make sure whatever it climbs on has good support. Dragonfruit do not have deep roots, and if your support falls over, it'll take the entire plant with it.
Another very good point there... I would have probably made that mistake. Guess I'll tie it up on a tree then. ;D
Big update time, its officially spring and past the point where we're going to get any potential frosts. Time to plant everything out!

Cool projects you have! That makes me also want to try a bonchi! Keep on doing the good job! 8)

Then get out there and do it!
Peppers are easy to work with, and damned hard to actually kill. Take risks, do weird stuff, have fun with them!
Absolutely i will! Probably the easiest way to have your favourite chilies over the winter inside where the space is limited. ;)
