Hi All,

Does anyone here grow peppers like Bhut/bih Jolokia, Dorset naga, Habanero Red savina, DHF3.

I would like to get more information on growing these varieties. And i can sure use your help and any information about these species is appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!

I'm growing Naga for a first time and I have to say that this summer was a bad naga summer...
Here's my first ever ripened naga pod:
 Huge! One full centimeter of Naga Morich.
So, don't ask me any growing tips about naga...

I've also grown Dutch-Habanero f3 this summer. It has produced plenty of orange, long habanero-shaped pods with a strong c. chinense aroma and plenty of heat.

Both plant's are growing in the same greenhouse. I use a peat-based soil and BioBizz fertilizers.

Hi Wille,

I hope my naga gets larger then that :? . I am growing them indoors under CFL. Here where i live we had a bad summer too. April/Mei was wonderfull with high temperatures and lots of growth.
I was growing cayenne outdoors and the pods ripened for at least 90-95%. So they where doing great. My next quest is to get pods of the species i mentioned before, incl the DHF3. Any good info about this breed?

Regards,

Hi

What is DHF3? I have grown those you mentioned and they did not seem any more difficult to grow than other peppers.

These are from last year

We are having a cooler than normal summer too and most of my peppers this year are far behind and I expect I will be ripening many inside this fall. I have ripe pods from an over wintered Bih Jolokia

Hi John,

Great looking pods, i hope i can grow them inside like that.
DHF3 is a Dutch Habanero F3 this is  a third generation crossbreed between a dutch pepper and a habanero breeded by Fatalii! I got some seeds from that plant and i am growing them indoors under CFL. So far there doing great and my plants produce a lot of leaves.
Do you have pictures of your plants, I would love to see them
Here a picture of my cayenne pods that i have grown outdoors.

Hi Lee

I don't take as many plant pictures as I should and have none of those from last year. These are pictures I took this morning

This is an overwintered Bih Jolokia

And Trinidad Scorpion from two sources--both almost a meter high

How did you grow that Bhut with that kind of weather? Very nice

The Bhut was over wintered inside so had a big head start. My regular plants I start in April and grow under regular fluorescents until I put them outside in mid June. Some don't ripen in time and I bring the plants inside to finish ripening.

That looks very nice John, you must definitely be a chilihead like me.
I grow under CFL, the long ones (PLL), first time. And so far its going great.
Here some pics of my setup, suited for 8 plants on max. 4 liter containers. These pics. where made last week.

looks high tech. Do you not grow any outside?

I am growing ouside, at least untill this season ends. I already harvested 90-95 % of the pods. So my outside season will slowly come to an end. Thats the main reason why i started inside.
