If I wanted to grow a pepper bush indoors permanently, what size pot would be adequate so as not to impede the roots?

It all depends on the variety you are growing.

As a rule of thumb, the bigger the fruits, the bigger the pots should be.

Would 1 or 2 l containers be ok? I want to grow plants indoor as well. Chocolate brown, Habaneros, Thai hot etc.
