I was wondering if you NEED an airstone for the DIY Ebb & Flood system (http://www.fatalii.net/growing/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=118&Itemid=69 (http://www.fatalii.net/growing/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=118&Itemid=69))

I know it's not used in the guide, but i have seen some very similar designs and they use airstone.

Does it make any difference to the working of the system and health/growing rate of the plants???

And btw, does anyone have the name of the inlet used in the guide, i can't seem to find that little piece anywhere for a fair price anyway..

You definitely don't need an airstone for ebb & flood but you can use it. Most people don't use it and their systems work just perfectly.

If you are in Nordic countries, you can find the white inlet part at Biltema  (http://www.biltema.com/)shops for a few euros.
