Very interesting comparison, John! I've done some of my own in the past - and they do sometimes reveal unexpected things...
It's true - PI-446909 can't be a baccatum var. baccatum because of the purple corolla. As for the cardenasii/eximium forms, there seems to be zillions of variations, some bell-shaped, some not, some stellar, some rotate, some reddish, some bluish... That plant really needs more research!
