More pics to come soon...
Looks very good. When will we hear about the new products of this season?
Very, very soon... :)
You say huge, i say massive :o
Looking good! I see that your plants have the same tendency as my "Aji amarillo small" that im growing this year. The plants are looking healthy and all, but towards the afternoon/evening the top shoots on each stem will curl in a rather odd way(a lot like the bottom pic). Do you happen to know what this is? I've only seen it on Aji's so far.
To start with I was thinking it was stress symptoms because my windowsill might have been too cold during the evening, but now I see you've got the same thing going on :)
Thanks in advance :)
I think the consensus is that the plants have had enough sun(or artificial)light for the day and are "going to sleep". Most chiles are from areas near the equator so the daylength is longer here (would your plants be doing that after about 12hrs of light?).
It's nothing to worry about, they'll grow fine.

I guess that would make sense for the greenhouse plants, not in my case though.. I have a Aji amarillo small, Fatalii and a Cayenne growing in the same windowsill and the Aji is the only one showing these signs. I'm not worried about the plant, It's still looking healthy :)
I just thought I'd ask to see if there was any conclusion to it, Maybe it's just a baccatum thing :)

I think it's more common with baccatums than others (checked my Aji Cristal, yep, it's doing it. My Aji Benito isn't, though). Not sure if I've ever seen it with annuums. My Naga's been doing it too, but strangely enough, not today ???.
Yes, that's all true. That leaf curling on the top leaves, and especially top stems is quite common after a long and sunny day.
The plants have gotten enough sun and start resting and preparing for the next day to come.
It really does happen more clearly on some varieties and species, like fe. baccas, praes and pubes.

looking gooooood,
what are those knarly and wrinkly pods named?
Knowing Fatalii's main fresh produce lines, I'd guess they're Naga Morich.
Yes, they are Fatalii Gourmet Naga Morich -strain, which have been cultivated and bred for nearly five years now.
Every year the best plant individuals with the greatest taste, heat level and productivity have and will be selected and seeds from those plants will be grown again next year.
It needs some patience but the results are great. :)
These Nagas will be eaten at the Naga competition at Tampere Chilifest 2011!
One more pic:

That is one seriously sturdy plant right there. Then again, we wouldn't expect anything less from your good self. ;)
fantastic looking plant, what would you say was the average yield you get from each plant?
Hmm.. way to hard to tell as picking of the pods starts very soon and continues to the end of the season..
Naga's are very light by weight though.
Isn't that a dripper in large scale?
If yes, where does the excessive nutrient solution go?
The rockwool slabs are wrapped in watertight plastic, right?
Are there holes at the bottom of each slab, from where the solution returns to a hidden tube below the grow bed?

So finally someone dared to ask the questions that baffle everyone else's minds here :)
Also, what kind of nutes do you prefer, still running on GHE's Floramato ?
It's a drip system, run-to-waste.
Watering occurs depending on the overal brightness, heat level and humidity.
That means there won't be wasting. :)
The rockwool sacks have holes at the bottom just to be safe.
The nutes are custom for our plants. It will be a well kept secret. :)
I use floramato, floramicro and topmax combination at development greenhouse.

Dream work!! ;D

What are those "rails" between the rows? Are they waterlines or real rails for some kind of a pushcart?
You guessed it right! they are both heating pipes and they work as a rails for a cart when collecting the pods.
There are plenty and plenty of pods this season!

Eating some Fatalii's Gourmet Naga Morich in my chili-con-carne right now. Tasty as hell and the heat is lovely! I think these are even better than last year...
I tasted one of these few weeks ago and these bastards were much hotter (not even ripened!) than a year ago. So I'm not sure do I take a part to the Naga Chilicontest 2011.
But anyway, remember.. I WARNED YOU!!!
Fatalii Gourmet Proudly presents new chile varieties!
These vars have been created by Fatalii Gourmet.
You can't find these from anywhere else.

Meanwhile, check your local store (in Finland) for these superb varieties,
they are available within couple of days!
If you can't find them, ask the vegetable personnel to get them and they will be available within few days!
Already put in a request on my local grocer's Facebook page. Next stop: texting all my local friends! ;D
Thanks! We really appreciate that!
That kind of action makes it possible for us to create completely new varieties available for everyone in the future too!
Thanks again, we definitely wouldn't exist without "fans" like yourself! :)
Great work! It's unbelievable how the chili culture in Finland has developed in the past few years. You are no doubt one of the key persons to thank for that. Keep up the good work!
You're quite welcome, the pleasure will be mine when the new stuff arrives! ;D
I've got a good relationship with the local K-Market manager, who also just happens to be in charge of the produce section. Got them to buy Kivikylän Tulitikku just by mentioning it once, and now they let me know whenever they get something new and fiery in. Shame the Nagas haven't sold as well as they hoped (that was something they did on their own, when they saw Fatalii Naga on the supplier's list - the manager's husband is a bit of a chile head, too)... Maybe I should've volunteered to host a tasting day there or something. They should be back from holidays now, I think I need to find a moment to discuss it with them, see if we can work something out.
What the f#ck!? This is great news! Can't wait to try those new varieties out!
Absolutely stunning!! I'll start spreading the word! ;)
Any hope of getting some information about those new varieties in the near future? I'm talking about the varieties you've worked with in crossbreeding. Or will it be a well kept secret?
I think you've used at least Champion (or something in common) in breeding of Aji Fantasy?
Sounds and looks absolutely fabulous. I'll deffo try 'em out ASAP. ^^
When will we see a Aji Talvisota, White Naga? :P

No Champion used, the taste of Aji Fantasy is completely different....
It took over five years to get the project finished and we are very happy with the results!
The otlher varities "Under construction" will be a secret until they are released. :)
These are the first varieties totally "made in Finland" and sold commercially.
Really exciting times for us!
Pictures of the new varieties will be released on twitter for the next days...

"Under Construction"... sounds like you've got a plan! ;)
Keep up the good work. I think I can speak for all of us, as I say: We really appreciate it!
Bought Aji Fantasy today from Citymarket Kupittaa.
It was simply AMAZING.
Just what I've been waiting for, a fruity mild chile that can be eaten as candy. What I'm also pretty sure of is that this one is going to be the number one for all my sandwiches ;D
Ofcourse I planted the seeds as fast as I got home and now I'm super curious about the breeding process of this one ;)
Keep up the good work 8)

Just took a bite...
Aji Fantasy is just what my kitchen was lacking. Tastes really good and fresh, very mild. Can't think of any purpose it won't fit. Well, maybe it's not suitable for a HC chili-eating contest ;D
Definitely worth buying. Belongs to category "A-1 Super."
Shouldn't these new varieties be added to chiliwiki.fi (http://chiliwiki.fi) ???
Today, finally, my local K-Market got the new varieties, too, as well as Aji Cristal. They always make sure to ask from the chain selection manager (or something like that) especially for these specialty products, as they don't necessarily make the official distribution lists for smaller supermarkets. KCM and the like get them sooner, and the smaller shops obviously don't even get a chance to order some things the hypermarkets get, in order to not upset the in-brand competition. I guess maybe I'm lucky to have such an open-minded and active manager in my local shop. ;D
Bought a box of both and exhorted all my friends to go do the same. Will probably try to hold out till a bit later to try them, although I've also got my first ripe Starfish I picked this morning. Maybe it's time for a lunch break? ;)

Can´t find a better word... NICE!!!
Were can i find "Fatalii" products in Kirkkonummi?
At the best markets, if you can't find them, ask for them and they will get them from a wholesale dealer.
Med Life kebab / pizzeria is also worth checking out, Our products are even for sale there.
Naga Morich, Aji Cristal, Smoked Aji Cristal etc.
Ok, thanks! :)
Bravo Fatalii :D I found both Aji Fantasy and Aji Finlandia in my local K Supermarket (at the Soukka mall in Espoo) and as an experiment I stuffed a few with ricotta and bacon and some chives (ruohosipuli), then roasted them for 10 minutes or so. Fantastic! Aji Finlandia is sublime for roasting, utterly delicious. Aji Fantasy maybe wasn't quite as nice, but it was still excellent.

I snacked on one raw Aji Fantasy later, just ate it like an apple, and it was brilliant! Very much just like a nice piece of fruit. Crunchy and delicious. Excellent :) I hope they're selling well!
An article about Aji Fantasy - The very first variety completely bred in Finland for commercial use:
http://fatalii.net/ajifantasy/
Too cool to be true!
I think Fantasy and Finlandia chiles are going to be of much help during the cold winter months. I certainly crave for fresh and fruity chiles in the middle of the January.
Hopefully I'll be able to persuade my local K-Market into making an investment. ;) And best of luck in your products under construction!

Dare to reveal, what's the approximate range of the volume of the nutrient feed (litres per day, drops per hours etc)?
