Other growing & lighting / Vs: Welthink led lights

So if somebody is considering led grow lights, the Welthinks Amsterdam office is worth of considering. The lights are good quality, and the service is great.

Sorry to be such an a-hole, but one lamp broke after a month of usage, so how can you still say they are of good quality then? Thank god they got the service as something has to make up for the bad quality.

Mark,

At least those darn mice did something right ;)

The rare seeds lost is a really sad thing, I hope you had some more of those tucked away somewhere.

Hope to see some pics of new seedlings soon!

Mark,

Slugs, mice, sunburn,...

I would get rid of that black pearl plant, before it's the last one surviving around your house.

Drive 100km and bury that cursed plant as deep as you can dig.

Haven't you got any fellow growers nearby who may have a few plants to spare? If I lived closer i would hand you some straight away.

Exactly, that what I figured also.

If he/she wants a lot of seeds that bad, well, let them buy em. Saw 200 caribbean red seeds for 4 pound sterling the other day, that's a good price.

But then again, it appears that the seeds are being sold on, which makes the whole case a lot worse in my eyes, it's nothing short of plain fraud. There's a word for creatures that live this way,... parasites!

I'm glad I didn't send out anything yet.

I already tought it was a bit fishy to say the least. Before sharing with anyone, I have the tendency to check these people out online.

I noticed that this person has been asking for seeds all over the net, which already made me wonder about the intentions.

Good job in figuring this out Luca!

That's an absolutely weird pod.

Are the other pods on this plant normal?

Any requirements as to image size and format?

Plus, there are only three prizes and 12 months in a year, does this mean that 9 pictures will be used in the calendar without any form of reward?

I see,

would like to see a picture of that, sounds very intresting :)

Does it have a full set of stamens? I read somewhere that there are flowers with a genetic fault (developed on purpose) that causes stamens to develop into petals, thus giving a double (or triple or etc...) row of petals.

I noticed a double flower today, it already lost its petals, has two pistils and two starting pods emerging from one flower, I'll take a picture and post it here later today :)

Here it is, sorry for the bad quality, the pod(s) is located in a hard to reach spot on the plant.

This is on a Habanero Caribbean red by the way, from commercialy bought seeds. There are a few other odd shaped flowers on this plant, so it might be something genetic.

I thought I remembered that everybody was driving around on alcohol instead of gasoline. I also remember a lot of Volkswagen beetles ;)

The only sad thing is, that the money is all going to a few lucky people and that half of the population is poor to extremely poor.

Although Brazil is an important industrial power with the strongest economy in the Latin American region, poverty is still widespread in the country. According to some estimates, 50 per cent of the population is poor (or living on slightly less than US$2 per person per day). Brazil is second only to South Africa in the world ranking of income inequality.

Brazil is the economic leader of South America, but there's still a lot of room for improvement on the social affairs side.

That being sad, Brazilian people are among tne most friendly I've ever encountered on any of the journeys and travels, and that includes the poorer population also.

Campbell and Reece have written a book called 'Biology' which might be a good place to start. The book contains a lot from almost every field of biology.

Traditional growing / Fuzzy warts?
maaliskuu 16, 2006, 13:00:04 ip
Yeah, it stunned me also. I put the thermometer outside and it showed temps between 22° and 26° C, that mulch heated up quite nicely. So I figured to let them bask in the sun for 20 to 30 minutes.

Today is another story, no sun and around 3°C, so things are back to normal (although on average that 10° to cold for this time of year)

Traditional growing / Fuzzy warts?
maaliskuu 15, 2006, 15:07:47 ip
Yeah, after some time, I agree that it's probably moisture related.

They got quite some water at repotting, which probably agravated the symptoms, after some drying and airing, they are doing just fine, growth doesn't seem to be affected either.

They're actually doing quite well today :)

The ones in the front are Aji Amarillo, the Dutch Red are in the box in the back.

Traditional growing / Fuzzy warts?
maaliskuu 08, 2006, 12:56:59 ip
Yeah, that looks pretty much like the same condition.

Others told me this has to be caused by excess water. Weird thing is that it's only this one variety that has these symptoms, while others don't seem to be bothered in any way.

The symptoms also popped up after the plants have been transplanted to 9x9 pots, they had a nice sip of water at transplant, but didn't get any in the days after, it's only now when I watered them once again, that i noticed these bumps and damage.

Will provide more air circulation, cut down on the foliar spraying and give them even less water than before and see what happens.

Thanks for the advise, that's 4 or 5 people that told me the same thing, so it just has to be true.

Thank you,
Steve

Traditional growing / Fuzzy warts?
maaliskuu 06, 2006, 21:02:55 ip
I noticed something strange on some of my Dutch Red plants.

One had a hole in one leaf, some of the leaves also start to wrinkle.

When I took a closer look, I noticed some fuzzy warts on the underside of the leaves.

These plants are still in the lightbox with all the others, so I'm very scared of any disease or anything like that.

some pictures:
The hole and wrinkled leave:

An image of the underside, showing the warts:

I've looked at images of common pepper diseases and couldn't find any that match these symptoms.

Anyone got any idea what this may be?

Would you move these plants away from the others?

Many thanks in advance,
Steven
