Hi. I'm Ronan from Ireland. I don't speak Finnish. I still hope to learn (using Google Translate) from the vast knowledge of chili pepper growing that seems to be present on this forum.
Thanks for having me.

Hi, and a big welcome from my behalf too! Nice to see people from other countries find this forum as well. I've also wondered sometimes how this marvelous "fruit" has such a vast popularity in a country where it doesnt appear in the wild at all.maybe it just fits in the finnish way of thinking or something...

btw, sorry for the language... I'm a bit rusty as I haven't been speakin' english for years. A little tipsy too... ;)

Thanks for the kind welcome and the offers of translation. That Guinness truck looks fantastic. I don't know why chilis are so popular in countries where they don't grow in the wild, maybe it is just because of that.... they are exotic, plus as a plant they are very aesthetically pleasing, not to mention the wide variety of pod size, shape and colour, the flavour etc. I could go on but I'm preaching to the converted here.

Welcome indeed! :) Most people here do speak and write English, so it doesn't hurt at all if you use it whenever Google's translation makes no sense (which means: most of the time). Finnish is a damn nasty language to learn, even for such a worthy purpose as growing chili! ;)

Ja man! I'ts maybe even better if you just write english and WE'll use google translator. English to Finnish is too difficult even for Google translator!

Agree. Things can be worse, though. Google translation btw Chinese and Finnish is beyond sanity, almost a psychedelic experience. So, when Chinese chileheads find our forum, we'll have to find new solutions. ;)  Otherwise it'll be like: "Me good chili like horse no two year Kazakhstan where you what do, no? Me want you give I give you want locomotive hot hot pepper you friend me, yes?"  Sigh... Witnessed that several times. Good entertainment, not exactly communication. ;)

Now that was perfectly clear in that hypothetical message he/she is clearly has been living two years in kazakhstan sharing living quarters with a horse, and asking if thats weird? he/she is clearly after hot peppers and if your kind enough he will come to you with a train...

Not that hard :D

You really caught the meaning! :D  Anyway, (sorry for off-topic) one very common word in English (and thus in Finnish since Google translates Finnish through English) always translates in "Kazakhstan" for no apparent reason when using Google with Chinese. Creates some pretty impressive "what the hell..?!" moments in conversation! :D  Can't, unfortunately remember what that word was. It was somewhat like: "I love your food very much. It is Kazakhstan and spicy."
