Decent sized rocoto you have! Rocotos are my favorite, juicy and hot.

Very nice pods, compered to the Locato (PI 387838) I grew this year there is quite a big diffrence :D

JohnF

Still, nice looking pods you have there. None of the others I grew approached the size of the giants. These were the smallest

Yes, even the Rocotos comes in many shapes.

These I picked in a nearby commercial greenhouse, when I got home I filled them with meat and cheese and made a nice meal, just one drawback it was hot as hell!!!

I am "overwintering" 4 Rocotoplants(LocotoX2 (40 pods this year), Cap 1492 (4 pods this year) and PI 585267 (also called Turbo Pube - no pods this year).
How many pods do you normaly get on a plant the second season John?

JohnF

I haven't counted them but for me they are considerably more prolific the second year-and also much earlier. Here is an over wintered plant loaded with blossoms on 6/25

and one of several harvests from the two over wintered plants

And an early ripe- 7/24

I'm still waiting for ripe pods on some of the first year plants
