Hi Lee, is CFL = Compact Fluorescent Light? Then the answer would definately be a "yes". Many people here use fluorescent tubes and/or compact fluorescents in their chile growing. It works fine, as long as the leaves are close to the tube (but not touching it). I myself have used both, btu prefer long tubes for they have more power and it's easier to put several plants under long tubes than trying to find and fit fixtures for several little CFL bulbs.

Hi JartsaP,

Thx for the reply. I am using the long U-shaped ones (PLL). According to the literature these lights would be good to grow chilli's. what type of CFL do you use

Mostly the long tubes, but when I use the compact ones, I use the ones that are compatible with standard incandescent light bulbs.

All "normal" fluorescent tubes are OK for growing. Some people tell that there are some types that don't suit chile growing quite as well, those are "UV-special" or other special colours.

Hi JartsaP,

Do you have any good tips growing indoors from seed to mature plant with pods.

Thx

I haven't grown so much completely indoors, usually just over winter and the  move the plants to the greenhouse for summer. I've had some "pet" plants indoors too, quite easy to keep alive, just remember that they need a lot of light and that too dry air will result as spider mites eating your plants. So you will want to spray them often.
