I have four plants, which should have been Aji Andeans. All four were planted from seeds sent by JohnF. None of the plants have the green or brown spots of C. baccatums, but the tall growing habit reminds more baccatums than annuums.

The plants have set fruit and have resulted to three different pod shapes. I have not tasted them yet, because I want them to ripen first.

Do these look like any know variety or are these  F2 generation crosses?

Hmm--is a baccatum. None of those look right. Can't explain your results-hard to imagine that as result of a simple cross. Should look like this

Quite strange, indeed! If the flowers have no spots, then they're definitely not baccatums... Again, if the same seeds produce three that different fruit types... Hmmm. Something like that just *might* result from a crossing between a round-fruited annuum (or chinense) and a baccatum. Wonder what the fruits taste like..?

I am sure that I did not mix up the plants, since I have nothing else, which looks like these. My records show that I germinated 5 plants. I gave some plants to interested people in the office; I must have given one of them away.  I'll ask who has it and what kind of pods it produces.

I tasted one green pod from #2, to find out it has any baccatum taste. The flesh was thin and crisp. I was not able to do any real flavor checking because at the same moment as I realized that in my exitement I had done a stupid thing and actually chomped half of an unknown chile out in the garden, where I have nothing to drink, my mouth exploded with intense pain. These are quite hot even in green stage.

I'll taste rest of them, when I have got my courage back. And the next ones I will get in the kitchen before experimenting.

I got first ripe one from the the other #3 mystery plant. The pods on this one are actually flatter than in the picture, so It may be different too. The flesh was thin and crisp, slightly sweet with hint of the fruity baccatum taste. There was no heat at all.
I will take a picture of the next one before eating.
