I`m building a simple bucket bubbler, that I will transfer to my balcony when it gets warm enough. Should I wrap the bucket with black plastic or something,to prevent any unwanted growth in the solution,or is there any problem with this issue. I do use ATAclean in the solution which should at least hinder any bacteria, fungi, etc. growth.

Don't wrap the bucket in black plastic as it will heat up in the sun. Aluminum foil with the shiny side out will be better.

Hydro nutrient solution should always be kept in the dark as algae growth increases if you don't.

Besides the algae and that sort of problems, the root growht is also much more efficient in dark conditions.

Is that true? I was wondering about that. has it been researched or is it common knowledge from those with experience?

(I was planning on setting up a system in an aquarium, so I need to know)

It is true, and the difference is crucial. I believe anyone who has tried both light and dark conditions has experienced the same. I'm sure there are many researches about it too.
