Hello everyone  :)

I live in Finland (as does Fatalii). Inspired by reading about his experience of growing chiles, I ordered some seeds and tried to germinate them.

In Finland, in summer time, we have enough sunlight 'cause sun is shining from April abt. 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. And rest of year, spring, autumn and winter there is not enough sunlight to grow anything. In the middle of winter (end of December) there are only 2 hrs of sunlight IF there are no clouds :( That's why we must use artificial lighting if we want to grow anything here. It is also a reason why vegetables grown here could be twice expensive compared to prices e.g. in Spain.

I bought a system called AeroGarden (expensive >:() It's an automated system which rotates water and switches lights on and off. Because I work at daytime there is no one to take care of my plants.

Only trouble in waterfarming system is to find out how much nutrients to give and how to keep PH in optimal level. In my experience it varies when plant reach new level of growing.

One of my plant is Malawi Bird's Eye (MBE). Here are some pictures of MBE growing indoors from 26th of March 'til today.

Date of germinating 26th of March 2009.

1st of May 2009.

5th of May 2009.

23th of May 2009. I have only tiny little space to grow chiles so I have to cut them by 'Machete'.

3rd of June. I noticed two pods (fruits) ;D

3rd of June, my very first self-grown chile  ;D

8th of June, pod is about 1 inch tall (~2,5 cm). Looks (the pod) healthy. Must wait to see change of color (can't wait  :o)

8th of June 2009, you can see some other buds ready to mature to pods (eight counted today 9th of June :))

Fatalii

Looks like a promising start... and guess what, you started with the same variety as I did! :)

Keep on going!

We really salute You, Sir Fatalii  :) :D ;D

You have great natural enviroment to grow almost anything! Your chiles really rocks :).

Lack of space and sun, in my case, makes my plants so small :( . But I think it's always PASSION which gives you strenght to grow chiles anywhere anytime. Have a nice season lee  ;)

Fatalii

Yeah dude, passion for growing is the word!

Eating chiles is always very enjoyable and fun but growing them... damd, thats where the real passion is!

Klopisto, well said!

Brack :), yip :), yawn :). As they say: Let there be Rock. And chiles...

Klopisto

By the way, I red something like this: "Don't grow plants, let the plants grow You".

Now I know why I became happier after intrested in chiles ;D.

I think for anyone's mental health everyone should try to grow something and learn about themselves :)

talas

Interesting to see you using an Aerograden for growing peppers and might get me one seeing your example  :)

Hello out there :)

A least someone rocognised my equipment ;).

It's quite expensive but I work at the day time and there are no one to take care of my children and time to time I've something else to do. That's why I found it very practical for my use.

I know flowing water is good and I think those lamps/lights are not bad either :).

Only thing is to take care of PH -level and to find complement ratio of nutrients.

Quite simple, ain't it 8)

[edit] There are some more pictures at Finnish site, I know You need no Finnish language, pictures tells everything necessary :).

For working person AeroGarden is number One. You have to take care of cutting (by Machete)... If there is a lack of space, there are not much to do... cutting by M...). You should not to be scared to cut down Your plants, eachs of them !!!

Klopisto

AeroGarden any experience ??? I'll do. See pictures abowe.
