Hi Guys,

Has anyone ever seen anything like this? It seems to defy the laws of photosynthesis:

Believe it or not, this is Naga Morich seedling grown by someone I sent some seed to. Ive never ever heard of an Albino plant. It will be very interesting to see how this one turns out.

It will most likely die pretty quickly. The lack of chlorophyll renders the plant unable to produce any additional energy and therefore it won't be able to develop. Most likely some kind of genetic disease.

PS. I know it's impossible to produce energy and therefore the word produce refers to converting energy from electromagnetic waves to chemical energy.

Animals some times have this genetic mutation and the ofspring become either melanistic or albinistic. In most of the situations nature takes care of things and the different kind of animal will die. I´ve seen this thing with phaesants. Some chics are "born" white but their life almost always ends during the first week, the other chics kill them because they are different from the others. One of a million oak seedlings is an albino and all of them die after growing the first set of leaves. I think that is how that little chile seedling will turn out too. Nice to see this happening in capsicums also.

Quite true, but animals don't rely on the pigmentation to produce energy and therefore they have a chance of surviving (for instance albino humans do exist). Plants have absolutely no means of surviving since they cannot grow due to lack of energy.

I had one albino chile seedling this spring. It did not grow past the seedling leaves and died after a month.
