Plant food for chillis

I was wondering if anyone has some recommendations regarding plant food.  I'm sure that this question has already been asked and answered in this Forum, but probably in Finnish ;-) I tried to get my girlfriend to translate some of the posts, but she's not very patient!

I read somewhere that lots of nitrogen is good at the vegetative stage, but it prevents flowers from developing if overused.  Does anyone have some NPK ratio recommendations for vegetative and flowering/fruiting stages? Or, even better, any recommendations regarding commercial plant food sold in Finland for these two stages?
